Pilgrim’s way
This walk explores a fascinating local section of the North Wales Pilgrim’s Way, following ancient paths and quiet lanes through farmland that has been walked for centuries. Starting at Tal-y-Cafn, the route heads gently towards Rowen, with a pause at the 19th-century Seion Chapel. From there the walk becomes more challenging, climbing the steep ‘Coffin Path’ to the remote church of St Celynnin and its sixth-century holy well, rewarding you with fine views across the Conwy Valley.
A walk rich in history, landscape and atmosphere, led by Trefriw resident Rev Eryl Parry, who featured in the BBC’s 2024 Pilgrimage programme at Llangelynnin.
This walk has some steep and uneven paths and tracks which may be wet and slippery underfoot. There may be longer periods of ascent, and you may find poles useful. Please dress for the weather and have suitable footwear.
