The year 2017 was the Year of Legends in Wales.
We are grateful for the support of LEADER funding for our Year of Legend activities, 2017, which enabled us to develop this theme, and to also leave a legacy.
As part of this we created a new trail – the Trefriw Legends Trail – a 9-mile circular walk. It comes in the form of an 8-side laminated booklet, and contains a map with directions and a wealth of legend snippets. It is now available (in English and Welsh) as an addition to the Trefriw Trails Pack. (The guide also indicates where the route can be shortened for an earlier return, if desired.)
The Legends Trail
You can download the full Legends Trail .pdf here, or it can be purchased (with the Trefriw Trails pack) from Trefriw Woollen Mill or Trefriw Post Office.
We also produced a book of legends and fables in the Trefriw area.
292 pages, price £7.50
Copies are now available from Trefriw Woollen Mill and Trefriw Post Office, or on-line from www.lulu.com – search for ‘Trefriw Legends’
During the Walking Festival that year we also held a session, led by professional poet/musician Martin Daws, where the participants took a local legend and developed it into a rap!
A recording of the finished rap was played at the Cake Fest, the finale of the weekend, and here it is! Have a listen to ‘Legend for a Day’.
