Join us for a walk from the peaceful village of Ysbyty Ifan into the wild uplands of Bwlch y Pentre, finishing at Rhydlydan with a welcome drink at Y Giler Arms.
Ysbyty Ifan, has long been a place of refuge, where the Knights of St John tended weary pilgrims crossing the remote hills. In later centuries the village was a haven for rebels and outlaws.
As we climb through marshland and quiet farmland along old drovers’ roads, it’s easy to imagine the Red Bandits of Mawddwy hiding among the crags and heather above.
Duration: All day. Bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinks.
Distance: 7 Miles / 11 km
Grade: Moderate
This walk has some steep and uneven paths and tracks which may be wet and slippery underfoot. There may be longer periods of ascent, and you may find poles useful. Please dress for the weather and have suitable footwear.
Transport: Car share out, with a minibus transfer from the Y Giler Arms back to the cars at the end.
Departure time: 09:45 a.m. from Trefriw Village Hall (LL27 0JH, SH781631) Please arrive 20 minutes before your walk departs.
Note : This walk will use Car Share to access the start of the walk.
Please make sure you register at the village hall above first.
Refreshments will be available in the Hall after your walk. (See ‘our cafe’.) Please stay and socialise!
