Blue Water and Grey Wings

Sunday 17 May, 2026   09.00am

This gorgeous walk (walking out from Trefriw and back) takes in a variety of scenery – hillsides, lakes, woodland, forestry and open moorland – between Trefriw and Capel Curig. We’ll be passing Llyn Geirionydd on the way out and at our furthest point (see the picture above) we’ll hopefully have great views of Moel Siabod, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and the Snowdon Horseshoe. We’ll return on the moorland below Crimpiau, eventually descending from the col to scenic Llyn Crafnant, then back to Trefriw, never far from the river Crafnant. This is cuckoo country (that’s the “grey wings”), so we’ll be very surprised if you don’t hear the cuckoo on numerous occasions during the walk.

Good views throughout!
