The Eigiau Horseshoe – A High Mountain Walk in the Carneddau
As part of the Snowdonia Society‘s 50th anniversary celebrations, we have teamed up with them to present this walk:
This challenging mountain walk, often called the Eigiau Horseshoe, will start and finish from the car park in Cwm Eigiau (we’ll get you there by minibus) to then take in the peaks of Foel Grach and Carnedd Llewelyn (both 3000’ers), plus Pen Yr Helgi Du and Pen Llithrig y Wrach.
The route does not always follow obvious paths. Note too that some sections are exposed, and in a couple of places hands will be needed.
The walk entails a total of some 3500’ (1100m) of ascent, and will offer some great views, if the cloud is high; but please note that the route will likely be altered or shortened if weather conditions are not favourable.
Full water/windproofs, warm clothing, and good mountain boots are essential.
