The Wild Spine of Ogwen
A Scramble Tickets: £12
This an exhilarating Grade 1 scramble in the Glyderau. We rise from Ogwen Cottage and head up to Llyn Idwal. From there we make our way up Senior’s Gully and Senior’s Ridge. On clearing the ridge we summit Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach, taking in Castell Y Gwynt and the iconic Cantilever Stone — a must for those brave enough to capture a truly memorable photo.
We then descend down through Bwlch Tryfan past lonely Llyn Bochlwyd and back to Ogwen Cottage.
If there is poor weather Devil’s Kitchen and Y Garn is the back-up plan
Duration: All day. Please bring a packed lunch, snacks and water.
Distance: 6 Miles / 10 km
Grade: Strenuous High Mountain
This scramble is for fit and experienced walkers only. There will be some steep, uneven paths and ill-defined tracks with rocky and exposed sections, so a steady head for heights is needed. It may be wet and slippery underfoot. There may be long periods of ascent and descent, and you may find poles useful. Please ensure that you have good, warm, waterproof clothing, including hat and gloves, and suitable sturdy boots (no trainers).
