Trefriw’s Two Lakes
A fabulous locals’ walk from the village visiting Llyn Geirionydd and Llyn Crafnant, through indigenous woodland, past abandoned mines and places of poetry. The walk makes the most of well graded ex-miners tracks. It has a long and a short version; a choice will be made on the day. Led by Mike Raine, author of the ‘Nature of Snowdonia‘.

Two Churches and a Chapel
From the meeting point we will take a minibus to Gwydir Castle and walk back to Trefriw on the hillside above the Conwy Valley. During the walk visits will be made to Gwydir Chapel, Llanrychwyn Church and St Mary’s Church, Trefriw. There are good views of the Conwy Valley and the main Snowdonia ranges.

Discovering Nature around Cors Bodgynydd
A walk through and around Cors Bodgynydd Nature Reserve in the foothills of the Carneddau. Discover the special biodiversity of the area and how it is being managed. With an option of a short climb to viewpoints looking back over the reserve with extensive views to the Glyders. A leisurely pace with some rough and short steep sections. The ground will be wet in places. Good boots recommended.

Woodland Dog Walk
Bring your dog (on a lead) and together explore the upland tracks of Coed Creigiau in the company of a Forestry Ranger. The woods rise sharply out of Trefriw so some paths are steep. Lovely views of lakes and mountains at the top.

Geology of Snowdonia
This walk will introduce you to the outline of the geology of Snowdonia, a story of violent volcanoes, colliding tectonic plates and massive grinding glaciers. No previous knowledge of geology necessary. The leader will be Paul Gannon author of the Rock Trails series of guidebooks to geology and scenery.
Duration: All day 4 – 5 hrs

Wild Flower Ramble
A slow circular walk with plenty of stops to admire the array of Spring flowers, wildlife and the views from Coed Creigiau, (the part of the GwydirForest north of the Crafnant Valley and Trefriw Cemetery.
There will be some steep uphill and downhill sections which can be slippery.
Duration: 3 hours

In the Footsteps of the Drovers
Join a Snowdonia National Park Warden for a walk among the mountains from Capel Curig to Trefriw, in the footsteps of the drovers who would have followed the old road along this route. An excellent opportunity to hear the stories of the drovers and discover more about the wildlife and history of the area.
On return we will be able to join the Cake Fest in the Village Hall.

Wild Swimming Taster Walk
The walk will leave from Trefriw, and climb up towards Llyn Geirionydd. The steep climb through the forest should have us working up a good sweat – and make us look forward to a lovely refreshing dip in the lake.
Upon reaching the lake, you can change (discreetly, using the Robie Robes provided) into your swimwear (or wetsuit, provided), and load up your waterproof bag (also provided). You will then slip into the calm waters of the lake and swim as much or as little as you like. The swim is part of the journey and at journeys end you will be met with the Gone Swimming traditional hot drinks and post-swim cakes .
You must be able to swim confidently but speed and distance is variable.
Please bring warm clothes including hat and gloves. Flip-flops/Crocs are useful for managing stony ground.

Under the Gaze of the Witch
From the meeting point we will catch buses (pass or fare payable) to the start of this walk at Capel Curig. From here we ascend open moorland above the Ogwen Valley to Llyn Cowlyd, returning to Trefriw via Pen y Craig Gron and the Crafnant Valley.
There are some good views from this walk of the northern Snowdonia ranges.

This is a walk for Welsh learners. It gives everyone a chance to practice what they’ve learnt as they walk along the banks of the Rivers Crafnant and Conwy and then visit the historic Church of St Mary, where we discover tales of the Princes of Gwynedd.

Introduction to Geocaching for all
The aim of the walk is to introduce new-comers to the sport of Geocaching. Those attending will be given a brief talk which will explain how the sport emerged and what happens when you go Geocaching.
We will then head off to investigate some local caches. We will locate these by means of pre-programmed GPS units, which the leader will provide. We will also be using maps and solving the puzzles.
We will start the walk with fairly easy caches on flat land, progressing to more difficult caches as we go.
Program will be adapted to suit the abilities and fitness levels of the group.
This will be ideal for all, not so much a walk as a treasure hunt!

Geocaching for Primary School Children
On Friday morning children from Ysgol Trefriw will be taking part in the Trefriw Walking Festival by trying their hand at geocaching.
They will be investigating caches around Trefriw and testing their treasure hunting abilities with GPS’ and maps.

Discovering the Past on the Hills above Trefriw
This walk will follow woodland and upland paths to historical sites on the hills above Trefriw. It will include Tyddyn Wilym the birthplace of the bard Gwilym Cowlyd; a deserted Chapel; the remains of the Medieval village of Ardda; an abandoned Sulphur mine; and a working farm water wheel. On a fine day there are stunning views of the Conwy Valley and Snowdonia.
Some steep paths and uneven ground. Please bring a packed lunch, walking boots and waterproofs.
