Cracking Crimpiau
Crimpiau is a stunning mountain viewpoint between Llyn Crafnant and Capel Curig, and despite being only 475m / 1,558 ft high, many describe it as one of the best viewpoints in Snowdonia. We’d have to agree! (In the picture are Moel Siabod, the Snowdon Horseshoe and the Glyderau. Behind the camera is the Crafnant valley.)
(Crimpiau is pronounced locally ‘Crimp – ee – a’, meaning hard sharp edge; ridge, spur; ledge.)
We’ll walk from Trefriw out to this viewpoint, passing Llyn Crafnant on the way, then return to Trefriw a different scenic way, past Llyn Geirionydd.
Duration: All day. Please bring a packed lunch.
Distance: 10 miles / 16 km
Grade: Moderate/strenuous (mostly moderate, though with a steepish ascent to Crimpiau itself)
Departure time: 09:20 a.m. from Trefriw Village Hall (LL27 0JH, SH781631)
Refreshments will be available in the Hall both before and after your walk. (See ‘our cafe’.) Please stay and socialise!
