Hike and Wild Swim

Friday 16th May, 2025  –  09.30a.m.

Hike and Wild Swim

A chance to unwind with a dip in the enchanting Gwydir Forest.

Two groups will be able to enjoy a walk and a wild swim in the calm waters of Llyn Parc.

The walkers will be accompanied by two of our leaders, and the swim will be overseen by Ffit Conwy Instructors / Lifeguards.

There will be two groups of up to 10 people –

The first group will walk up from Trefriw, ending up at Hafna Mine car park where you’ll meet our swim instructors and the second group for lunch. You’ll then walk up to remote Llyn Parc for a leisurely swim.
After a hot drink, you’ll retrace your steps to Hafna where the minibus will return you to Trefriw – and cake

The second group will do this in reverse, ie travel to Hafna by bus, meet Swim Instructors and walk to Llyn Parc. Enjoy a swim then return to Hafna for lunch and the walk back to Trefriw.

The speed and distance is up to you but this is for experienced open / cold water swimmers only. Please bring swim gear, changing robes or towels and a wetsuit to carry with you.
A warm drink and snacks/food for after your swim is a must.

Duration:  All day.
Please bring a packed lunch. A flask of hot chocolate would  be a great addition.

Distance:  5 mi / 8 km  for the walk

Grade:  Easy / Moderate

Please be aware that this is a rural area and that all our walks take us out into the countryside where some parts of paths and tracks will be uneven and sometimes wet and slippery underfoot; it isn’t like walking on pavements!

Departure time:  09.30 a.m. from Trefriw Village Hall (LL27 0JH, SH781631)
Minibus one-way, with a walk out, or back.
Refreshments will be available in the Hall both before and after your walk. (See ‘our cafe’.)
Please stay and socialise!

Walk Leaders:  Mat Hancox & Matthew Driver
Ffit Conwy Instructors: Roger Pierce & Zac Pierce
