Trefriw Walking Festival 2019, 17th – 19th May

Award-winning Trefriw Walking Festival returns with more walks than ever!  Discover the scenery, natural history and human stories of stunning Snowdonia on more than 20 different walks and experiences.

Further information:

Trefriw Walking Festival is organised solely by volunteers from the Trefriw Walkers are Welcome group and is Snowdonia’s most popular walking festival.

Based in the heart of the historic village of Trefriw on the edge of Snowdonia, the festival has trails for every level, from mountain ascents to easy strolls. This year’s highlights include walks of discovery around Iron Age settlements, and along Roman roads, and delving into the more recent local history of the Dolgarrog flood disaster in November 1925.

Experience a foraging walk for families, listen for bird song, learn about spring flowers, take a track up to one of our local lakes for a taste of Pack Rafting, or even an early morning ascent of Snowdon. All this alongside some of our favourite walks in the Carneddau range. As ever, all this exercise will build up an appetite for the now famous Cake Fest on Sunday afternoon!

All our walks begin and end in Trefriw, the more remote ones using transport kindly provided by Plas y Brenin National Mountain Sports Centre.  All are led by experienced walk leaders and accompanied by qualified First Aiders.

Trefriw Walking Festival won Conwy county’s Sports Event of the Year 2018 – recognition for all the hard work the volunteer team puts in every year to make the festival bigger and better each time.
