Trefriw Mill Race
Are you a fell runner? Or do you know someone who is?
Last year Trefriw Walkers are Welcome offered to revive the Trefriw Mill Race, following an absence of some 20 years.
This 11-mile fell race, run under the auspices of the Welsh Fell Runners Association, covers the route of what is called The Crafnant Horseshoe, a challenging and remote upland area. In all, the race takes the runners up some 2,500 ft. of ascent, passing the highest point of Creigiau Gleision. (By the way, we’re thinking that this route might feature as a walk in next year’s Walking Festival, but we’ll be taking rather longer than the race winner’s time of 94 minutes!)
Some 39 runners entered, and the event went down well. Sufficiently so, in fact, that this year the race has been upgraded to be one of seven in the prestigious WFRA 2017 Welsh Championship; it will be the penultimate race of the season, on Saturday 7th October, 2017.
